如果背單詞的目的不僅僅是識別閱讀，聽力中的要點，還包括口語，作文中有效表達的話. 那么我們要明白句子中主要有三種詞匯。

【例】Aristotle considered an object downward or upward motion to be the result of dominant nature of the object. 亞里士多德認為，物體的上下運動是由物體本身所具有的支配性所產(chǎn)生的結(jié)果。

托福文章大都遵循這種結(jié)構(gòu)，考生通過篇首段落信息來把控整個文章話題及大致討論方向，再抓住文章的各個段落主旨，便可洞悉整個文章脈絡(luò)和邏輯結(jié)構(gòu)。

Topic sentence是比較容易想的，甚至是可以虛構(gòu)的，所以問題就落在supporting ideas的思路上。

但是單純有段首連接詞還不足以支撐全文的結(jié)構(gòu)，因此考生應該同時準備段中連接詞，包括"比如說，因為，但是，相對比而言"等，粗略估計，全文完成下來可以達到15個以上的路標詞，不僅承接了全文，結(jié)構(gòu)清晰明了，而且也為時間緊張下的寫作減輕了不少字數(shù)壓力。
