Another unsuccessful endeavour was the Vietnam War. America sent troops to Vietnam to prevent the country from becoming Communist. However, after many years of struggle, the troops were withdrawn and Vietnam fell to the Communist party. But this failure had much value. On one hand, our failure in Vietnam led to an important lesson in successful war strategy. The experience of the fierce guerrilla warled to changes in tactics that later helped America in other conflicts. Also, the Vietnam failure helped change the American culture. People protested the war and the government responded to the voice of the public. These important changes show the value that can come from failure.

文章的拼寫錯(cuò)誤很多，全部都是口語化的東西，雖然SAT沒有要求考生把作文寫得像academic essay（學(xué)術(shù)論文）一樣，但要是一個(gè)閱卷者在批閱一份作文時(shí)候，感覺像是在聽這個(gè)作者面對面地講話，他能給這個(gè)作文很高的評價(jià)嗎？而且，整個(gè)文章的句式死板單調(diào)，顯得很稚氣，不像是個(gè)即將進(jìn)入大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)的中學(xué)生的作品。

當(dāng)然，如果49道語法試題滿分，即使作文0分的話，也可以拿到整個(gè)寫作部分800中的680分左右。

因?yàn)榭忌�的作文要被掃描到電腦里交給閱卷者評判，而方框外的內(nèi)容是不會(huì)被掃描到電腦里的。

Rudyard Kipling once wrote in his poem, which said that you will be a man if you can stand up and say what you believe in when all men around you doubt you. Heroes must have the courage to risk everything they love to stand up for theirselves in the face of opposition. Both William Iloyd Garrison and Harriet Beecher Stowe stood up against a society which had accepted slavery as a right. They believed that what their heart told them was right and risked everything to tell the public what they believed in. These two people have hopefully shown others to believe in themselves and what they view in their hearts.

It was that year that my mind opened and I began to truly become educated. Rather than trying to fill my head with disconnected facts and other people's ideas, I now collect knowledge that I can use to form or change my opinions. And I plan to continue this my whole life, facing new situations with an educated, open mind.
